Summer vacations in my childhood were always an adventure.  My parents were always packing us kids into a truck and set off across the country with some epic destination in mind: The Grand Canyon, Disney World, Glacier National Park.  One time we drove all the way around Lake Michigan, presumably for the fun of it.
