Once upon a time I believed that asparagus was only to be enjoyed steamed and smothered in cheese sauce because that's how I grew up eating it. But, over time I've learned that asparagus is amazing even when it's not bathing in dairy- who woulda' thunk? My first sighting of it in the produce section each year
